Introducing Limber Lite

Today we’re releasing Limber Lite here on animatable.co and soon it’ll also be available on aescripts.

Limber Lite is a simplified, free version of Limber and it’s quickest and easiest way to get started with character rigging and animation in After Effects.

One of our goals with this release is to support total newbies who don’t feel ready to commit to the expense of a commercial product, or to learn a more complex tool. It’s also a great option for teachers and trainers who want to introduce their audience to the power of IK-based character animation in an accessible, robust and effortless way.

Limber Lite has just two buttons in it’s UI. The first button makes a Limber bone - our fastest and simplest limb, based on a single path and stroke. These are the exact same bones as the full version of Limber and they’re fully compatible if users decide to upgrade. There are no limitations to how many bones can be generated, or how they can be used. The second button takes users to the Animatable website to check out the full version. And that’s it. Simple and intuitive.

Four years ago, I was working on a giveaway IK preset called ‘Simple Limb’. It grew in the making with Mike Overbeck on board and ended up becoming a paid product. With Limber Lite I’m really happy to think that we’ve now made good on my original impulse to provide something for free to everyone, and I’m proud that it’s supported by the wider Limber ecosystem.
